Cardiovascular Disease Caused by High Cholesterol

Cholesterol is already found in seventy five percent of the body. Twenty-five percent of the foods that are eaten will have cholesterol, which is then added to the other seventy five percent that is already in the body. Seventy five plus twenty five adds up to one hundred percent. If cholesterol in the blood stream goes over the one hundred percent that a body is able to take, it means that a person has high cholesterol, which can wreak havoc on a persons heart, liver, and pancreas. Cholesterol is a waxy type of substance that can be built up in the blood stream that could clog arteries. The body has two types of cholesterol, which is LDL and HDL. LDL is good cholesterol in the body, and HDL is bad cholesterol. When the bad cholesterol is elevated, this is what causes risks for a heart attack or a stroke. The twenty five percent of foods that have high cholesterol in them are foods with trans fat and hydrogenated oils. Depending on the amount of trans fat and hydrogenated oils in food, and depending on how much of this food a person consumes on a daily basis, will be the deciding factor for high cholesterol. The good thing is that high cholesterol does not build over night. It is a gradual thing that happens when the wrong kind of food is eaten most of the time, and the right kinds of foods are barely touched.

The right kind of foods are fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, rice, oat bran, fish, and anything else with a lot of fiber are considered good foods for lowering cholesterol. Even if their cholesterol levels are at good numbers, they can still start to live healthier lives. If the numbers are bad, then a person should start checking the labels on their foods. The foods to stay away from are hamburgers and french fries. The grease in hamburgers and fries are full of trans fats. Popcorn is full of hydrogenated oils. Cardiovascular disease is when the heart does not function normally. The blood vessels also do not function normally. Cardiovascular disease is caused by more than just high cholesterol, but the leading cause of the disease is due to unhealthy eating habits. Fatty foods are the number one causes for cardiovascular disease.

High cholesterol that leads to cardiovascular disease make up twenty five percent of deaths caused by a heart attack or stroke. The rest of the seventy five percent is caused by smoking, diabetes, genetic, and obesity. People who are young and thin can still die of a heart attack or stroke if they have high cholesterol.
