Naturally Lowering Cholesterol
When most people think about lowering their cholesterol, they believe that they have to go through some earth shattering event in order to make changes to their life. Especially when they are told the risk factors if they do not lower the cholesterol. Lowering cholesterol does not have to be a monumental event. It only takes a few changes to keep cholesterol levels at a normal number. The only difference that a person will have to make is in what they eat. Because it is what they eat that is raising their cholesterol. What people will need to do is eat the complete opposite of what they normally eat. Instead of eating a hamburger, now they will eat a salad. Instead of eating cookies, now they will eat an apple. It is that simple. The key is to stay away from foods that have hydrogenated oils. If the foods that they buy have hydrogenated oils, then it contains trans fat. Trans fat is the biggest cause that leads to heart disease by raising a persons cholesterol level.
Basically, all of the greasy foods that people love, will become no-no’s when it comes to lowering cholesterol. Surprisingly, Oreo cookies are one of the biggest hydrogenated oil foods that kids are taking into their bodies every day. Trans fat has become such a concern anymore that food makers are making a move to remove most of the trans fat and hydrogenated oils from their food. Kraft is just one such company that is helping in the effort to save people’s lives. Even eating foods with just a small amount of trans fat can be dangerous. There is no set level of hydrogenated oils that can be considered safe to consume. If people were to look at the labels on products, such as potato chips, crackers, cake, chocolate, popcorn, and many other products, they would find the words trans fat along with grams, and hydrogenated oils. When a person sees these two words on their food products, they are eating hazardous foods that could potentially cause a stroke.
Moderation is definitely a factor when it comes to trans fat and heart attacks. It is true that a person who consumes more trans fat has a higher chance of having clogged arteries than a person who eats less. One hamburger is definitely better than three, but eating foods with no hydrogenated oils is always best. A person can lower their cholesterol naturally just by changing their own diets. They do not have to take any medications at all, as long as they take control of their eating habits, and keep themselves from having high cholesterol.
